Benefits

The reassuringly robust, yet lightweight construction of the DIO and the DIO midi combined with the durable case and the single USB cable providing both power and data tranfer from a laptop computer, makes it possible to provide high-performance retinal imaging virtually anywhere.

The DIO's advanced illumination system utilises advanced LED technology to produce a low-intensity flash exposure applying light uniformly across the retina.  Alignment is performed without the requirement for visible light for observation further enhancing patient compliance.

Evidence suggests that a signficant number of diabetics cannot present to a standard static non-mydriatic retinal camera for screening, mainly due to geographical considerations and special needs.  As more diabetics are screened, the number of those that cannot be screened increases.  Clinical goverance demands continual improvement in the effectiveness of patient care.  The DIO offers a high-performance portable alternative for the treatment of patients that cannot currently present for screening.

The DIOs robust modular construction and seamless connectivity not only reduces the initial capital expenditure, but minimises ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade costs.  Careful selection of key components used in manufacturing the DIO ensures durability and continued availability of replacement parts.

Whether handheld or mounted on its own portable cross-slide base or on a slitlamp, the DIO requires minimal training to achieve quality images. Based on the principle of indirect ophthalmoscopy, optometrists will immediately feel comfortable using the DIO handheld.  The DIO live capture screen offers the user a 'what you see is what you get' ability to focus on the retina and capture the image at the touch of a button.
